Mark this day, June 13, 1944.  It’s about the only moment in the entirety of 1944 when the British government, for one shining second, are not complete idiots.  This is a letter from Sir Dingle Foot (a real person. Respect.) to Adolf Berle about the WRB’s plans regarding relief packages. The British will actually agree to allow relief packages in small numbers and sent to individual people with the Red Cross supervising distribution through the Allied blockade and into Europe. (Don’t worry. The British will protest this very thing again soon. But this letter–for all the overregulation–is about as liberal as the British come.)
