This is the transcript of a conversation in Morgenthau’s office about the Fort Ontario camp. FDR hasn’t announced the formation of the camp yet, and the WRB staff is trying to push the issue.  It’s a Friday, and the President is headed to Hyde Park for the weekend. Pehle wants the announcement to get into FDR’s briefing books for the weekend, but Morgenthau doesn’t want him to push the issue. Pehle responds (rightly), “[O]ne reason these things go so far is that we ask unreasonable things, that is all. Of course they are unreasonable.”

If you’re interested at all in Fort Ontario, it’s a pretty neat transcript.
