I know I haven’t mentioned it (among the host of things I haven’t mentioned; remember, there’s about 150 documents per day that I’m choosing from) but there were ransom negotiations going on in Sweden too. In this cable, they are finally able to confirm that the Germans negotiating on the Swiss border are not the same as those in Sweden.
(To find this out, Stockholm sent a cable to Washington, who then transmitted the message to Bern. Why? Because Stockholm did not have secure cable channels with Bern.)
