Despite the recommendations of Moses Beckelman, the UNRRA head of the Fedhala camp in North Africa, the camp was still open.  In case the Horthy offer (or any other subsequent offer or rescue scheme) actually came to fruition, the Hungarian Jews would need a place to go. But Fedhala really was almost empty, especially after nearly 500 Sephardim were sent from Fedhala to Camp Moses Wells in Egypt. the Sephardim would go to Greece after the war, and Moses Wells was closer to Greece.
