A big problem after the war would be reuniting families and trying to discover the fate of individuals. During the war the Central Location Index was already gathering information and in this New York Times piece, they estimate it will take two years after the war to complete their work
(Spoiler: The USHMM has a department specifically trying to help people find out the fates of their families. So, a bit more than two years, maybe. Unfortunately.)
