March 12, 1944: Another Sunday. This is a letter from Rhonda Hinkley to Secretary of State Cordell Hull about assisting Polish children. There’s no evidence they know each other personally, but one of the things that I’ve discovered reading all of the documents I have is that people had a very different relationship with the government than they do now. There is a personal belief that the government was answerable to them and would assist them promptly.
