On June 8th, Pehle and Morgenthau go over to the Oval Office and visit FDR about the emergency refugee shelter. FDR doesn’t need to be convinced anymore–he is all-in, even asking how soon he can make the official announcement. He’s pleased that the location will be Fort Ontario in upstate New York (as a New Yorker himself).  At the end of the meeting, Pehle informs the President about the basics of the Joel Brand offer. Clearly, it was a pretty good meeting.
